IKN Jalin Kerja Sama dengan Universitas Belanda untuk Penelitian Pembangunan Berkelanjutan

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has joined forces with the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus (LDE) Universities consortium from the Netherlands and Mulawarman University in Samarinda to advance research in sustainable urban development for Indonesia’s new capital city.

“This collaboration follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on sustainable urban development research and landscape-based management,” IKN Authority Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources, Myrna Asnawati Safitri, said in Nusantara on Saturday, February 7, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

As part of the follow-up, a learning forum was held two days earlier at the IKN City Hall Auditorium in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP Nusantara).

The session provided young professionals with direct learning opportunities and served as a platform to explore further cooperation, including capacity-building programs, short courses, internships, and study opportunities in the Netherlands.

Myrna noted that IKN Authority already has an MoU with the LDE consortium, and recent discussions involved master’s students from diverse disciplines eager to conduct research on Nusantara.

She added that IKN Authority is considering future joint activities with the consortium to engage its staff, many of whom are young professionals, in shaping ideas for Nusantara’s urban planning.

The forum also opened space for dialogue between IKN Authority staff and academics from Indonesia and the Netherlands, reinforcing Nusantara’s vision as an open learning hub for research, innovation, and leadership in sustainable city development.

Head of Research at the Department of Urbanism, Delft University of Technology, Steffen Nijhuis, described Nusantara as a “global living laboratory” for sustainable urban and landscape development.

“We are pleased to be here, to see the city’s progress firsthand, and to engage with young people involved in its planning and management. Nusantara is not only a laboratory for Indonesia, but for the world,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry at Mulawarman University, Irawan Wijaya Kusuma, emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and youth involvement.
