Jakarta Maksimalkan Pertanian Perkotaan untuk Keamanan Pangan
RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Administration is currently striving to meet the region's food requirements by leveraging urban farming. This initiative serves as a alternative to relying solely on food commodity supplies from other regions.
This was remarked by Lya Imbasari, Head of the Food Security Division at the Jakarta Food Security, Marine Affairs, and Agriculture Agency. According to her, nine provinces and 36 regencies are currently collaborating with the administration to fulfill food security needs.
"We also have an urban grand design, which includes initiatives like urban farming," she remarked on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Lya noted that the administration, through its Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD), also operates mobile food markets to reach the general public. This program aims to sell food commodities at prices lower than market rates.
Furthermore, Lya confirmed that Jakarta’s food supply is currently sufficient to last through the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period. "Prices also remain stable, as can be monitored via the Jakarta food price information application," she added.
Previously, the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, ensured that the supply of food staples remained secure. This includes the availability of meat, which sees high consumption during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
Governor Pramono emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Administration has taken early steps to secure food stocks. He also reassured residents of the capital not to worry about potential supply shortages.
